During one of the numerous chats and tasks I have with our VArmy, there’s one particular recent chat where I checked on a task and within seconds immediately messaged Jules. She was the one in charge of it. I asked her about a bunch of things that I thought were missing. As she was pointing out what I thought were missing, I did a double take and saw my own mistakes - I did not quite fully check it. I mean, it took me seconds, right? Once I saw it, I apologized and said, “I’m sorry, yeah I see it. My bad. Thank you and awesome work.” What do you do in these types of situations? Do you get defensive or do you own up to your mistakes? These types of situations are pivotal. They’re opportunities. It’s these situations that define the culture that you are trying to foster and grow. Train yourself to spot it and use it.
